Congrats to today's LivePitch audience favorite, Chaperon, and to the investor panel favorite Livengood Engineering. Each company received $500 cash and $500 in legal services from HRO. Thanks also to Silicon Valley Bank for sponsoring the event, as well as to the other companies who also did a great job presenting - Kerpoof.com, Magic Home Entertainment, and Torii Medical. The guys from FundingUniverse.com did a great job of putting this event together in only about 10 days. We had about 50 people in the audience, and each person got $100 in "funny money" to distribute to their favorite companies after the pitches. This was kind of a neat way to go, because it got the audience talking up close and personal with the entrepreneurs. In the end, it was a good networking event and seemed to live up to the spirit of EntrepreneurshipWeek USA. Hopefully FundingUniverse.com will come back to Colorado in the near future and hold another event, maybe with a bit more time to plan for it. Thanks also to everyone who came out to check this out. I hope the networking and the experience was worthwhile.

Great event! I did my own little write-up of the entrants on myCredit Card VC blog.

[...] Last week I attended an event in which five companies made a pitch for an Angel investment. The driving force behind the idea was Boulder’s David Cohen, who wrote about the event on his Colorado Startups blog. It was also reviewed by the mysterious 5280 Angel. I think I saw that guy in the audience, though it was hard to make him out behind the fake glasses, nose and moustache. The audience got some play money, and got to “invest” in one or all of the five companies. My only complaint with the format was that they lined the investors up and you put the cash right in their hands. A little awkward. [...]

My wife and I flew up to Boulder from Tallahassee, Florida for the LivePitch event. We really enjoyed the event as well as the opportunity to network.

We loved Boulder. My wife doesn't care for cold weather, so I was shocked when she said, "Let's move here!" I guess it's time put the house up for sale...

Dave, did you tape this event? If you did, when is it going to be available on your podcasts?

Thanks, David! It was a pleasure to work with you. We'll be sure to make time for a follow-up meeting in the backcountry next time. :)

LivePitch was a familiar and fantastic format. I'm looking forward to watching it evolve. Congrats to Chaperon indeed!
