BrandStack Reinvents the Branding Supply Chain

San Antonio startup, BrandStack, isn’t really a “startup.” It’s really a re-start of a company formerly known as IncSpring.

With their new platform, Brandstack not only showcases incredible design talent, but also allows companies to purchase an entire package — domain, name, brand, logo, stationery — and any other individual elements that they might need as they need them. If a company needs a Website, they’ll be able to find it and then come back for their identity package another time.

It’s also a great way for designers and companies to meet each other on the Web. They’re a completely open network and encourage companies to work with the designers beyond the initial purchase.

What’s compelling about BrandStack is that designers will be able to build an entire brand or just one design element, leaving the other elements open for others to create and sell.

It works because some designers are better at developing identity packages while others tend to excel with print or Web design. It also works because they can introduce companies to additional service providers like public relations professionals, marketers, and printers.

Now add in other professionals into the mix-- say bloggers, designers, Web developers, PR types, and SEO/SEM experts and you wind up having a supply chain that gets you best of breed — all online and from around the world.

Founder, Wes Wilson, told me that they plan to have educational articles and insights that will be available on the stie. Within a few short months, companies, designers, and other creative professionals will be writing about topics that range from advanced Photoshop techniques and SEO tips to how to choose a freelance designer and what questions they frequently ask before providing an estimate.

Wes’ vision to become a one-stop network that takes the guesswork out of design for companies while allowing designers the flexibility they need to showcase designs the way they imagine them at a fair, affordable price.

But I see it as much more.

To me, BrandStack is as much of a supply chain as it is a creative marketplace. And by it’s name, there are metaphors of software development. Think of your brand as a software stack, with your design and output being a set of programs that work together to produce a result- a great brand you can monetize.
