Announcing my new startup seed fund

Today, I'm thrilled to announce the launch of a new seed fund designed to invest in early stage web/software startups nationwide.  This new $2.5M fund was finalized last week and will begin investing immediately. As many of you know, I have personally invested in about a dozen startups over the past four years and have been fortunate enough that many of those have been successful.  I have also been very encouraged with the results of funding pre-seed investment through TechStars, the mentorship-driven summer program based in Boulder and Boston.  Based upon the successes I've had with these activities, I am humbled to now be joined by an amazing group of investors who are also providing capital for this new fund that I am managing. The new fund will invest in approximately 20 startups over a five year period.  It will invest between $50K and $200K per company, with a typical "bite size" being $100K.  While this new fund will choose the best available investments nationally, we believe that some of those will naturally include companies exiting TechStars.  With this fund, I will lead some investments and will follow other funds or angels in other cases. I am especially honored that the advisors to the fund are Howard Lindzon, Brad Feld, Howard Diamond, Lisa Rutherford, and Jason Mendelson, so the range of experience represented by the fund is quite extraordinary.  More information about the fund is available at DavidGCohen.com. I look forward to continuing to help fund, encourage and support the next generation of great entrepreneurs. I cannot imagine anything more fulfilling.

Good luck getting people behind this one. Though you make some VERY fascinating points, youre going to have to do more than bring up a few things that may be different than what weve already heard. What are trying to say here? What do you want us to think? It seems like you cant really get behind a unique thought. Anyway, thats just my opinion.

There is nothing better than a Asics Tiger. It's style, it's spunk, they are comfortable and everybody seems to love them. These Asics Onitsuka Tiger have been around for lots of years and that speaks a lot about their design. The older generation loves Onitsuka Tigerand the newer generation are been introduced to them. The focus of this news story will look at the Asics Running athletic shoe. They will give a brief overview of this sneaker as well as giving other features related to this classic.

Congratulations! How does a prospective investor get notified when you are raising more money?

I couldn't find anything about your fund at your site, but I did notice that your Bio page has a bad link to http://www.ghdoffer.com/

The investing link from the your homepage menu also doesn't work.

it's not limited to any geography, but it's very unlikely we'd invest outside of North America.

Seems like a pretty smart move and a great way to continue to work with and grow companies coming out of Tech Stars.

How do start-ups apply to this new fund?

Thanks for the bad link - I removed it. The DavidGCohen.com site is brand new so I'm still tweaking. However, the "Investing" link on the top right works fine for me. Let me know if it really doesn't work for you. Ping me at dgc@davidgcohen.com and I'll answer your other question about the fund. Thanks!
